What are the Texas Requirements for Homeschooling?
Texas is a very homeschooling-friendly state. It has minimal regulations and requirements. Home schools are considered private schools and as such, the state does not have jurisdiction. Texas does require; however, is a bona-fide (real and tangible) curriculum to show how you intend to sure your children receive adequate education in different subjects. It must be a written document and include the intended use of visual teaching implements (books, workbooks or an online platform) and at a minimum must include the five basic subjects of Spelling, Reading, Mathematics, Good Citizenship, and Grammar. The state does not have the authority to approve or reject your curriculum for its content as long is it does contain those topics. However, the flexibility doesn’t mean you can stop your search for a great preschool homeschool curriculum.
